PROJECTS The Upper Salmon Basin Watershed Project works to implement a variety of habitat restoration projects. These restoration projects include the installation of riparian fencing, implementation of pasture management programs, irrigation diversion structure modifications, irrigation efficiency improvements, and irrigation ditch consolidation and elimination. Fencing projects have helped to stabilize stream banks and promote the re-growth of riparian vegetation, allowing for the reduction of sediments in spawning gravels and providing shade for the stream. The improvements in irrigation systems have resulted in more efficient use and delivery of water throughout the upper Salmon River basin. This allows more water to remain in streams, providing more spawning and rearing habitat, as well as eliminating passage barriers. Below is a summary of fencing projects that have been implemented in the upper Salmon River basin.
